BCC, GENERAL ALLIANCE SIGN MoU TO IMPROVE ROAD SAFETY
Blantyre City Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with General Alliance Insurance Limited to construct speed-reducing humps at the Henderson Street–Sharpe Avenue intersection, a known accident hotspot in the City.
General Alliance will fund the project at MK13,990,725.00, while BCC will oversee the works to ensure they meet all agreed engineering standards.
“This partnership is timely and will help reduce accidents and protect road users,”
— Mr. Sekani Gondwe, Deputy Director of Engineering Services.
“As we approach the festive season, it is important to curb accidents caused by the absence of speed-limiting features. We are proud to join hands with the Council.”
— Mr. Daniel Matiya, Business Development Manager, General Alliance.
Blantyre City Council appreciates this gesture of corporate responsibility and remains committed to making Blantyre safer for all.
