Sections and Functions
1. The Building Maintenance Section
Maintenance of Council’s infrastructure and erecting national flags during public functions.
2. The Roads Section
Responsible for construction and maintenance of roads. Its objectives are:
- To maintain and improve access and mobility through effective road management.
- To improve pedestrian security through traffic calming measures and footpath maintenance.
- To improve traffic management and control for enhanced development opportunities.
Major Tasks Performed:
- Routine maintenance of unpaved roads: grading and gravelling.
- Rehabilitation of bus shelters.
- De-silting of drains.
- Maintenance of bridges.
- General road maintenance.
- Road safety tasks: markings and signage installation.
- Traffic rights management.
- Management of infrastructure services and construction contracts.

3. The Electrical Section
Provides the Council’s electrical services. Major tasks include:
- Replacement of damaged street lighting poles.
- Replacement of lamps and fittings.
- Repair and replacement of faulty gear and switch gear.
- Correction of time switches.
- Replacement of power lines.
- Re-painting of poles.
- Maintenance of electrical installations.
4. Fire and Rescue Services Section
Ensures fire safety measures are adhered to in the City. Goals include:
- Provision of enhanced public security.
- Reduction of fire incidents.
- Provision of fire rescue services.
Tasks Performed:
- Attending to fire incidents.
- Training for external industry employees.
- Internal firefighting training.
- Inspection of industries for compliance.
- Inspection of fire hydrants.
- Attending to rescue services.
